+++++ What Thomas Kinkade said about this work +++++
"During my travels, I often wander about, keeping an eye out for new scenes
to sketch and paint. On one of my journeys, I was walking through a village
park enjoying the splendor of springtime. Everything had come to life again
in a joyous display of colors and fragrances. The afternoon sun shone
through the new leaves and spattered across the cool stone path. I was so
moved by the brilliance and warmth that I simply had to stop and capture
this celebration of spring and its new beginnings.
I knew that a scene with flowers and dogwood was a perfect celebration
of spring and its new beginnings. It was only after I completed Afternoon
Light, Dogwood in my studio that I realized what a perfect expression of
the season of rebirth the dogwood — the legendary source of the wood for
our Lord's cross, and the symbol of Easter — truly is."
