+++++ What Thomas Kinkade said about this work +++++
"My wife and I spent the night at a kibbutz on the Sea of Galilee, near
locations which were the very heart and soul of Jesus' ministry. I awoke
early to capture the effect of sunrise on these holy waters. But I wanted
Sunrise, Sea of Galilee to celebrate the grace of the fishing boats
that work these waters today, as they did when Jesus choose fishermen as
His first disciples. I shifted my position imaginatively, so that I could
include both the handsome fishing boat and the distant hills painted gold
by the glory of morning sun."

Sea of Galilee
The Sea of Galilee is also known as the Sea of Tiberias and the Sea of
Gennesaretto. Today, Israelis call the Sea by the biblical name Kinneret.
The Sea is actually a fresh water lake that lies roughly 650 feet below sea
level (lowest lake in the world after the Dead Sea) and is only about 14
miles by 7 miles. It was on these shores that Jesus delivered sermons and
performed miracles including calming the stormy sea (Mathew 8) and walking
on the water (Mathew 14).
Kinkade created The Sea of Galilee as a peaceful romantic
image. He had an idea of adding a fishing boat to the scene because he
noted many references to fishing within the scriptures. He felt it would be
a appropriate addition. "I will make you fishers of men." He used examples
of old fishing boats shown in photos he saw in the kibbutz at dinner time
as inspiration.
