ABOUT THIS PAINTING
It all started on August 17 1896 when the whole world equated the name Moonlight on the Riverfront with gold. At least 35,000 Klondike gold rush stampeders descended on the town, In the record year 1900 the Yukon goldfields produced more than 1,077,500 OZ. in nuggets and dust.
On the western bank of the Yukon River, this fishing village is accessible from the Klondike highway. Following the highway through the Yukon and Alaska you are literally on top of of it all.
In 1984, Thom traveled to Alaska where he met a bush pilot, Hoppy Harrower. Thom decided
that he wanted to paint a suite in the Yukon, so he told the pilot he would give him the
original of the first work he painted, worth $4,000.00, if he would fly him around the
area for 3 weeks.
