+++++ What Thomas Kinkade said about this work +++++
"I love lighthouses. The severe, uncompromising life of service lived by lonely
lighthouse keepers possesses a special dignity. Poised between the last
outcroppings of land and the vast expanse of the ocean, the lighthouse has
become a profound symbol of human life, poised as it is between the transitory
and the eternal."
"Cape May Light, which clings to the southernmost tip of New Jersey, is far-famed for
its stately height and majestic simplicity of line. To me, it is an emblem of faith and
hope, reminding us that we endure life’s storms only through the grace of God.
When I began to paint, fog shrouded the lighthouse. I feared that I'd have to paint
another day, when suddenly the fog parted. The sky became a vibrant cerulean blue, and
sunlight bathed the lighthouse. I tried to capture the exhilaration of that wonderful
moment in my painting. I hope that I have succeeded."
