+++++ What Thomas Kinkade said about this work +++++
"Who doesn't love baseball on a long summer day, eating hotdogs and "Cracker-Jack" while
cheering for the home team? It has been part of my life since I played Little League in
Placerville California, the small mountain village where I grew up. In A Mile in His
Shoes I try and capture the personal nostalgia of those boyhood memories and to give any
who view this image an opportunity to reminisce about their own hometown experience with
this great game.
In my painting, A Mile In His Shoes, a professional minor league team with an
enthused, albeit small, fan base is in the middle of a game on a late season day. The
pitcher winds to throw in front of fall foliage and the colors of the evening sky. The
batter tenses to swing while his coaches look on at both the play and the general
spectacle of the American baseball pageant. I can smell the cut grass, hear the slap of
leather and crack of the bat, and imagine in my mind?s eye the ball launching into the
outfield while the crowd jumps to their feet in anticipation of the play's outcome: an
iconic account of our country's sporting traditions.
I further wanted this painting to tributize my 3rd film, also called, A Mile in His
Shoes. It is an uplifting tale of both team and personal triumph. I know it will become a
family favorite. Whether you enjoy my painting, the movie or both, I think the one thing
that we all can agree on is that, 'It is time to Play Ball!' God Bless!"
